Dry suit survey - Hydrotech

WET n DRY Dry suit survey

Distributor: Hydrotech 01455 274106.
First Impressions: A good-quality, well-made neoprene drysuit. Nicely finished. For example, the zip opening is trimmed and beaded.
Material and Construction: 4mm Neoprene with nice attention to detail. The leg and arm sections have a gusset-style insert. All seams are stitched, glued and taped with a stretchy rubberised tape.
Boots: A typical Hunter neoprene-lined boot, stitched and taped on the inside.
Zip: Mediumweight, well-fitted and glued.
Seals: Latex parallel wrist seals, glued and taped both inside and out. Bellows-type latex neck seal, glued outside and taped inside. The neck seal is fitted over the shoulder pad, which looks odd.
Wrist Seal Contact Length: 3.5cm.
Knee Pads: Neoprene, stitched and glued.
Valves: Apeks fixed inflation valve and low-profile auto dump.
Notable Other Features: Shoulder pads. A nice cargo pocket with an under-width zip and nice brass ring drain-holes. Inner pocket secured shut by Velcro.
Ease of Dressing: Simplicity itself. The easiest of all the neoprene suits to get on and off.
In The Water: I felt a little cold. This is the only one of the neoprene suits I tried in which I felt cold. I should have used an undersuit. Otherwise it dived perfectly.
Approx. Weight: 6.1kg.
Made-to-Measure: Yes.
Tested by: George Buxton.
