Besides its tailored packages, Dive Worldwide is introducing an expert-led 9-night St Helena in Style group tour for spring 2019, with the 19 February departure timed to coincide with the large aggregation of whale sharks that visit the island every year.

There are also some 750 other marine-life species including dolphins and Chilean devil rays, the claimed oldest living land animal on Earth – a 186-year-old tortoise – plus dolphins, and a number of historic shipwrecks.

The trip is led by cameraman and marine conservationist Danny Copeland, and guests stay at the Mantis St Helena, once an East India Company barracks.

The £4195pp trip includes two nights’ B&B in South Africa, seven nights’ B&B in St Helena, some meals, 10 boat-dives, three whale-shark snorkelling excursions, two land tours, flights and transfers.
